Live music and DJ packages are available. Announcing is included in both Band and DJ services.
There are some music styles that are better performed by a band and others that are more suited to be played by a DJ.
There is an excitement that is part of a live music performance and there is no doubt that a DJ can create excitement on the dance floor as well.
Contact Band Leader and DJ/MC Eric Zimmermann to discuss your needs and wants and the services that are available.
What instrument options are available?
We provide Duos, Trios, Quartets, Quintets and Soloists - Classical Ensembles, Jazz Trios and Dance Bands.
Instrumentation includes: Harp, Flute, Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello), Piano/Harpsichord, Guitar, Sax, String Bass, Drums, Vocalists.
If there is no piano will you bring one?
For locations that do not have a piano, our pianists have Keyboards with a variety of grand piano sounds.
Most ensembles with piano can include a keyboard and amplification.
We can also recommend a piano rental company, if budget and location permit.
Will the ensemble need amplification?
A number of factors - out doors/in doors, instrumentation, number of guests, etc. - can influence whether or not an ensemble can be heard without amplification.
Since 1990 Elegant Music has provided music in some of the most popular wedding and event sites throughout Southern California.
Amplification is recommended for out door locations such as the Ritz Carlton (Pasadena, Marina Del Rey, Newport Beach).
As each location is unique this point is addressed in a consultation.
Do you play requests & learn songs?
Yes, we look forward to your requests. We can also write musical
arrangements of a special song for a specific instrument combination if needed.
How far in advance do you book?
Certain dates book up faster than others, and leaving something as important as music and entertainment to the last minute is risky, so we book from 6 to 16 months in advance.
The sooner you complete your planning and arrangements the more you
will be free to enjoy your event.
How do you get people to dance?
There are many methods a DJ/Master of Ceremonies can use to get guests up to dance and invite group participation; these begin in the planning process.
Programing music ahead of time is important. VIPs of your event can be surveyed to determine what kind of dance music they like. This way your DJ knows exactly what you and your guests like to dance to.
How do I choose music for my ceremony?
For Wedding Ceremony Music you are invited to our office where we can help work out the order of your wedding ceremony processionals (who is walking in when). Then, we perform for you to help work out music you and your bridal party will walk in to. Hear music; choose the music you like.
From this you will receive a copy of your wedding ceremony program to give to the person who will be coordinating your wedding ceremony.
Our Ensemble Sampler CD is nearly one hour in length and features Duos, Trios, Quartets, Quintets and Soloist playing a variety of styles of music. Finally we have produced a Wedding Sampler CD as well as a number of other CDs to choose from.
With any event someone should conduct the festivities. This is the
responsibility of the Master of Ceremonies.
Announcements made by the Master of Ceremonies are scripted and worked into the itinerary.
Well before the event, the script and itinerary are approved by the client so that the announcing is concise and reflects exactly the tone desired for the event. Question: Will the DJ talk too much? Answer: No.
Can I have something different for my party?
Since establishing Elegant Music in 1990 we have had some unique requests. As a result, our ensembles have evolved and our repertoire has grown to include all styles, from traditional to contemporary. We look forward to hearing your ideas.
The variety of services Elegant Music offers are very reasonably priced. In a personal consultation your needs and wants are discussed and the scope of your event and cost is determined.
What Is Important to You?
If you have never planned a wedding or large event before everything may seem important. Planning is a learning process and your priorities may change as you become creative and more familiar with the various services you are choosing for your event.
Before The Wedding*
Brides surveyed before their wedding (during the wedding planning process) say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterer. Wedding ceremony music and reception entertainment is among the least of their priorities.
After The Wedding*
78% of brides surveyed (within one week after their wedding) now say they would have made the entertainment their highest priority.
81% of guests say the thing they remember most about a wedding is the entertainment.*
Almost 100% of bridal couples now say they would have spent more of their budget on the entertainment.*
*These statistics were compiled and published in St. Louis Bride & Groom Magazine in 2003. Sources include: Simmons, 2001; USA Today, 2002; National Bridal Service, 2001; The Knot, 2002; Brides Magazine, 2001.
